I know that we have discussed why Dorian is the better choice but from the perspective of the character, the woman he has loved for most of his years in Llanview finally says that she wants him. What would make him reject her? Thoughts?

Viki doesn't really want Clint. She knows him, she's comfortable with him, she apparently isn't content with being married 10 times (or whatever) and Llanfair is just too big all by herself. But she's not passionate about him. Clint is looking for an adventure. Viki really isn't looking for adventure. She just wants someone to agree with her.

I think it's her long reluctance to admit her feelings that will cause him to reject her. And that she makes him feel like a naughty boy (and not in a good way).

When Clint left Llanfair and said outside the door, "This isn't going to work," he was talking about him and Viki. How many times does the man have to give her an opening? Is he supposed to just take being belittled and spoken to like a child when he is being open and honest about his feelings? That has been what it's like for years. Maybe the armed robbery at the Palace made it even clearer for Clint. He saw Dorian with a a gun in her face, he protected her. As he later said to Viki, he attacked the gunman because he threatened Dorian. He asked Viki to repeat herself about what she felt because for once, it made no difference for her to say she now wants him in his life. He has been waiting for YEARS to hear it, but suddenly it made no difference. For him, the choice had been made before and he hadn't even realized it. The choice was clear and it was Dorian.

I think you nailed it Cheryl.

And when he said "well Viki to be perfectly honest with you" and then they got interrupted I really thought he was going to just plain say. It's just that I didn't know for sure until tonight but after all this....

And rejecting Viki? Well there are plenty of reasons.

But mostly. That ship has sailed. You know he wanted back everything she took from him all these years. But he can't have it. The kids are grown. They are 15 years older themselves and since Clint came home they failed to reconnect. He provided his usual constr8.gif duties for her when she was sick and that's it. Now he's off to have a life with the woman he's chosen who btw chose him right back. It's how life goes. What did Dorian say? It's all in the timing. Clint and Viki had their time now it's time for image22.jpg ! Bring it on!

Yeah I caught that when I was editing for the clip. It sounded like he was getting ready to tell her that he didn't want her right then--but in a nice Clint kind of way. Hmm, not the way I would have said it. ;) :o

Viki: In the meantime, Nora, what do I do? How do I hold my head up in public having given Dorian the upper hand? (This is about Dorian NOT Clint)

Viki: The thing is I really don't know if I want Clint that way at all. Not that it matters -- I mean, he's with Dorian. (She still doesn't know her feelings but the thing is he's with--DORIAN)

Clint: When I asked you to share my life with you again and start a new adventure, you turned me down flat. Did you decide that's what you wanted, after all? Or did you decide that you just didn't want to see me with Dorian, and that's why you made that declaration of yours right in front of her?

Viki: Well, you know that I -- I don't want you with Dorian.

Clint: You hate Dorian.

Viki: So?

Clint: And I think you did what you did tonight because of how you felt about her, not how you felt about me.

Viki: Really? Is that what you think? I don't know. (The hate for Dorian is the ONLY feeling Viki is sure of)

Clint: Well, I need to know. Viki, I need to share my life with someone that I can count on, someone who wants me around, someone who cares about me. And Dorian has never been ambivalent about how she felt.

Viki: No, that, she has not, no.

Clint: I don't know what's going on. And I don't know what it is you want right now. But I'm pretty damn sure it's not me.

Viki: Well, I guess you would know how I feel. Anyway, I think it's perfectly clear that you and I have no future together.

Clint: I'm sorry if I hurt you.

Viki: I'll survive.

Clint: You always do.

Viki: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

Clint: Good night, Viki.

Viki: Good night, Clint.

Viki: Well, maybe I don't want your adventure. Maybe -- maybe I want one of my own. (Viki you don't want Clint to be with Dorian. You don't want him.)
