Erika's World--March 07 Newsletter It's very frank.

Doesn't sound like ES is too keen on the headwriter. She doesn't think Dena likes Viki at all and doesn't write for her. Says "poor Jerry" knows they've made Clint dumb beyond belief. "But that's another thing that's too bad." She doesn't think Clint and Dorian hooking up is a bad thing if Clint is using Dorian for sex or to piss Viki off. She finds it ridiculous that he actually cares for her and listens to her. She says it would be a good story if Clint marries Dorian and regrets it beyond belief.
I can only guess from her remarks that they go much further with the relationship of Clint/Dorian. ES says that she is very bored with the way they are writing her story and she has no idea if there is real romance for Clint and Viki.
Interesting.

She was incredibly frank. It took guts....Can't think a HW would appreciate such responses. Or TPTB.
We learned:
Now lets see. Doug does not make Clint jealous and it's a disaster of a date. Peter is a one episode nothing and there's no tea or jealousy.
Clint/Viki--- she's so bored she can't tell us. I completely agree with her! They are horribly boring!
I agree Cheryl-- kissss.gif are going a lot farther in their relationship than the spinners were willing to admit. Hey I hope he marries her too. It can go ANYWAY once it happens now can't it? ;) Lots of story for Clint and Dorian!
And no lupus. Their daughter's illness does not bring them together. There are obviously NO plans in regards to V/C.
They do need to write for Viki. She could do a lot more than interfere with Clint/Dorian or meddle with the kiddies. It will be fun to see them all mix it up with david.gif for a bit!

I do wish she would have commented on what should happen with Viki and Clint since she offered opinion that Clint should just use Dorian for sex or to piss Viki off. Oh and that Clint and Dorian should marry and Clint should be miserable. Wow, but what about Viki and Clint? I know that she has no idea where Dena is headed with them but I am curious where Erika thinks they should head with Clint as it relates to Viki. Did she say? Or did I miss it?

For Clint to be involved with Dorian is ridiculous. It’s not a bad thing if he’s doing it for his own reasons – just for the sex or just to piss Viki off. But that he actually cares about her and listens to her and believes her…hello?! |
I hate it when Viki puts "hello?" at the end of a sentence, and apparently it's ES that puts it there.
Wow, she does not have anything good to say about Dena. I wonder if ES has seen the "Friends" episode when Joey said in an interview that he writes his own material? Shortly after his character on the soap fell down an elevator shaft.
I don't like the stuff she said about Dorian - as if she has absolutely no qualities other than sex that could attract a man - even a *dumb* man like Clint.

You know Gin, I do believe Slezak was onpoint with many of her comments. One specifically is that Higley writes a series of events as opposed to story. That has frustrated me for a very long time. I particularly like her suggestion about letting Clint have Dorian and there being a marriage with a story behind it. Seriously, now that Clint has made his decision, let's deal with the outcome of that action in a way that involves a story instead of a throwaway fight with Viki and disagreement with Dorian here and there. If there is going to be a choice let it be a strong one with meaningful significance that brings story for the actors who are impacted by it. That applies to all the "events" that are currently taking place.

I'm not saying that a lot of what she said about Dena isn't true, but she didn't come across as very diplomatic. I wonder if it's typical in soapland for the Executive Producer to have so little say over the writing. What do you think?

Gosh, I'm kind of clueless on that stuff but I would imagine it would have to do with leadership style. You only have as much freedom as the person above you allows. Frons seems to have a hands on approach. Nonetheless, I do recall reading that Valentini and Higley were on the same page with story but I guess that changes from time to time.
