On page 74, Soap Opera Digest has a story called, "Repeat Performances." Digest has an article on stories from each soap that were "so nice, the soaps told 'em twice!" For OLTL, Clint's past romantic choices are spotlighted:
This is with a picture of Lindsay and Clint kissing and Viki and Ben at Crossroads:
Disconnect Four: After Clint (then-Clint Ritchie) moved on with LIndsay (Catherine Hickland), Viki (Erika Slezak) took up with bartender Ben (Mark Derwin).Too Little Too Late,
1988-99- Asa goes into cardiac arrest, causing son Clint to realize that life is too short and he needs ex-wife Viki in his life.
- Clint proposes to Viki, who cops to lingering feelings for her ex, but turns him down and impulsively takes off on a cruise.
- Clint and renowned schemer Lindsay (who is on the rebound from Sam) bond over their disastrous love lives and form a friendship.
- Clint and Lindsay become an item, and he accompanies her to Las Vegas, where she is searching for her son, Will.
- Viki confides in Dorian that she still loves Clint. Dorian advises her to tell him soon because Lindsay's after him.
- Ready to accept Clint's proposal, Viki is shocked when she learns that Lindsay is already the new Mrs. Buchanan--the couple married in Vegas!
- Viki ventures to the Crossroads bar one night. She is intrigued by bartender Ben: they start dating and eventually marry.
This is with picture of Dorian, Clint and Viki at Llanfair:
The Ladies in My Life: While Clint (Jerry verDorn) waited for Viki to sort out her feelings , he started something with Dorian (Robin Strasser).I Want You Back, 2006-present- Asa goes into cardiac arrest, setting off a series of Buchanan family crises that bring Clint and Viki closer together.
- Clint struggles with lingering feelings for Viki, but she refuses to admit her own feelings for her ex-husband.
- Clint and renowned schemer Dorian (fresh off her broken engagement to David) start up a friendship during his difficult time.
- Clint and Dorian have an affair, and he stands by her as she frets over her missing daughter, Adriana.
- Lindsay offers advice on Clint to Dorian and the two plot to get Dorian what she wants, while Nora implores Viki to make a play for Clint before it's too late.
- Viki crashes Dorian and Clint's dinner date to announce that she wants Clint to date her and only her. She is embarrassed when she realizes that he's already chosen Dorian.

Well since you typed that up Cheryl, I don't have to. :) But there was other C/D stuff in SOD and SID:
ABC SID 8 May 2007 (issue with the May Previews)
Remote Control (Editors' Opinions)
OLTL: Miss Right?
Are we crazy for thinking that Clint made the right decision in choosing Dorian over his ex-wife? Viki - who had more than her fair share of opportunities to snag the guy for herself - only seemed to become interested in Clint (and half-heartedly at that) after he started getting serious with Dorian. Hopefully, Viki will make sure to actually clue in her next potential love match to the fact that she's in interested in him!
Picture of Dorian, Clint, Viki from last year at Llanfair (one of their few ABC medianet pics, Dorian's in the white dress with the black print) Caption "You snooze, you lose!"
Fan opinion snippets in Speak Out! - With the way Clint's acting lately, some think he doesn't deserve Viki, and actually belongs with Dorian! ()
In Depth Answers - someone asked about C/V's past relationship and exactly why it didn't work out for them. SID gave a brief (I mean brief) re-cap for 1979-1992. Then it said, "Having lost interest in her husband, Viki finally began an affair with Sloan in 1993. Once Clint discovered this, he ended things for good. And although they've tried reconciling several times since then, their stars never really aligned again."
(I love how the recurring theme is being brought out - Viki isn't interested in Clint. A case could be made that Viki was leading Clint on and he finally realized that. That doesn't make him a bad person.)
SOD 1 May 2007 (issue with May Previews)
There's a small bit with a OLTL hair-stylist (Laurie Cacioli) about Langston's and Dorian's hair. Someone asked "How do you get Robin Strasser's hair in such a nice pile on top of her head?"
"I've been working with Robin for a very long time and she likes to have fun. She likes to look like a diva and we have a lot of different hair pieces for her. Sometimes she likes to just have messy, fluffy big hair and sometimes, she has a bob. Whenever she wears her hair up, and I style it, she always has hair pieces and sometimes they're synthetic and sometimes they're human hair. Whenver her hair is up, we help it with some hairpieces."
Mail Bag - Both pro and con C/D:
"Some OLTLers are happy with Clint and Dorian's union. 'It was rewarding to see Dorian get her heart's desire,' writes one. 'Kudos to Robin Strasser (Dorian) and Jerry verDorn (Clint) for making the improbable believable.' And some are just happy Viki is out of the picture. 'Finally, Clint was right about something in his new life: Both he and Dorian are alike,' a fan points out. 'Both are hurtful, deceitful, lying and conniving: a pair made in heaven. Here's to Viki finding a real man for true love and happiness - one that isn't an old shell of a cowboy.'"
Okay who wrote the first one? ;) And, to the second one -

Hey thanks for typing that up Emily. I get Soap Opera Weekly and Soap Opera Digest in the mail but I don't get Soaps In-Depth. I agree it was interesting to read the recurring theme of Viki's disinterest in Clint and his walking away from the relationship once he realizes that she is taking him for granted. It is a pattern of behavior and a history that has played out again as he chose Dorian. Also, I enjoyed reading the mix of letters in the mags with lots of opinion about Dorian and Clint. It's nice to see support for Dorian and Clint. clap.gif

This is what drives me nuts about C/V. Apparently, Clint is supposed to wait however long it takes for Viki to make up her mind, on her time, and if she's not interested then he better not get involved with anyone else because one day Viki might decide she does want him back. That's not fair to Clint - if Viki can move on, so can he with whomever he chooses. Clint is a viable character in his own right, his usefulness to the show doesn't begin and end with Viki.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that C/D still get good support in the press. I liked, in that Repeat Performances article, that Viki was portrayed as having made her own decisions, which had consequences (in losing Clint) and SOD didn't try to make her out as poor, put-upon Viki.

Yes and editors at SID with their Remote Control, actually saw clearly why Clint chose Dorian. He deserves to move on with his life instead of waiting around for Viki to decide that she MIGHT have feelings for him.

First off you are all wrong I am the only person on the planet earth who likes Clint and Dorian :ph43r: And since I haven't written a letter to the mags in eons it must be some sort of misprint. How could different people write in positively about them?! wtfmore.gif
LOVE IT!!! snoop.gif
Oh and ALL of the magazines are making a point of agreeing that Clint and Dorian are the best choice! I mean it's obvious they are the most interesting and fun! TVGuide, SID, SOD and SOW all agreeing and commenting. Are there anymore?
Cheryl is was obvious Viki was never anything but half hearted at best. She didn't care and she didn't truly want Clint. Anyone who watches with objectivity and pays attention to the dialogue and the actors could see that as plain as day. She just didn't want Dorian to be happy and Clint deserves better no matter what her highness thinks. Everybody deserves to be wanted. He finally figured it out as we all knew he would wink.gif and he acted on it.
There will always be a crumb sprinkled here and there in regards to Clint and the ex caring about each other forevah just like there will be about DnD. As always which pairing gets the support of the press and abc? Clint and Dorian.
Clint and Viki had a six episode blip on the radar screen to refocus on Clint and Dorian choosing to be together. It's obvious Viki was nothing more than a plot point. A reason to make Dorian jealous and motivate her to win back her hearts1.gif desire. Which she did so quite effectively by telling Clint the truth and admitting her feelings for him and not standing around judging him and expecting him to worship every word she said. Thank god that boring exercise in futility is over with. Clint and Dorian are so much more vibrant and intriguing together.
The dynamic of Clint and Dorian throws conflict into so many stories that affect their families it's a no brainer. The Patriarch of one core family and the Matriarch of another. It's a soap family that makes perfect sense and adds tons of storyline possiblities.
I agree Emily-- Clint does not exist to hold Viki's purse. But then again that's all some people want from him. Clint and Dorian fans like and support both characters that's the difference between liking characters and USING them in hopes your favorite "gets some".
Here's hoping Voug/VD have a nice adventure! Preferrably off canvas! devil.gif

This was obviously written by a tried and true Viki fan - one whose words we've probably read many times before.
