Blair is one of my favorite characters -- off and on. And mostly I did not enjoy the prom stuff but it had it's moments when it came to family scenes. I wanted to say that on Friday's episode (6.22) I liked the way the Blair/Cris scenes were crafted. It wasn't forced and quickly wrapped up. Throughout the episode, Blair explained why she was so opposed to Starr and Cole --it would be like saying good bye to Todd by disregarding his wishes. I could relate to that. I've been seeing more of that kind of dialogue lately on OLTL and wondered if Ron Carlivati got a hold of some scripts and has began making things more character-centered. The same was true of Cris' conversation with Antonio. Cris was persistent over several episodes in trying to earn his brother's forgiveness. I listened and could relate to why Cris would want his big brother back in his life. And what was really terrific is how the scene was looped back to Cris telling Talia that he was going back to the hospital to tell his brother how things went in court. Antonio had asked Cris to represent him and it was brought full circle with just a minor conversation. It took little time but it made the conversation and relationship between Cris and Antonio more meaningful. I am hoping for more of this. And it is this kind of writing that has me anticipating what we will be getting between Dorian and Clint. I want to hear my favorite characters talk about how they are feeling and what is going in to their choices. We have rarely had that. I believe whether you agree with a character or not, you can understand and relate to feelings that are universal through life experiences.
I agree that the scenes between Cris and Blair were very good. They got a lot of air time and they were actually talking about something--not just repeating the same thing over and over. Blair helped us to understand her point of view. And Cristian, with the addition of his scenes with Antonio, is starting to sound like an intelligent person. I hope Cristian will continue to grow in that direction.
