Title: C/D-Only Recap 7.16.2007

ees43 - July 16, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
Scene 1
Paige updates those in the waiting room (Marty, Miles, Nash, & C/D - there was no Viki today, Paige said Viki was already told and "went to call the kids") that surgery was over, it went very well, and David and Jessica are in recovery. Everyone is ecstatic. Clint has his arm around Dorian and hugs her closer as she says, "Clint, darling, this is wonderful!" Clint agrees with Miles that Jessica is a fighter. Nash asks to see Jess, and Paige says she'll let him know when it's safe.

Jessica and David are together in a hospital recovery room. The nurse compliments David on saving Jessica's life, saying he's the angel. Jessica wakes up. David makes a crack about his organ, Jessica smiles and takes his hand.

Scene 2
Jess asks David to stop making jokes because she can't laugh with all the stitches. David thinks he must look like hell, but Jessica says he looks great and is great. David says she doesn't know him very well, but Jess continues to gush that he's David Vickers, her hero.

Out in the hallway, Clint is joyful that his little girl is doing well. Dorian says Jess has the fighting Buchanan spirit. Clint's thinking about Jessica's recovery, praying that she makes a full recovery. Dorian asks how he feels about David's recovery and wonders if Clint would be upset if she went to visit David when he's ready for visitors. Dorian tries to calm Clint down by saying it all turned out well and Jessica's life is surely worth $10 million. Clint is still furious that David blackmailed him, using Jessica's life to do it. He would like to see David pay for it with more than a vital organ.

Scene 3
Dorian continues to try and console Clint, by saying David did come through, to which Clint counters, "For all the wrong reasons!" Clint agrees that the end result (saving Jessica) is wonderful, but he's angry that Jessica even had to go through all that. He's so angry he could rip out the rest of David's liver with his bare hands. Clint walks away, leaving Dorian looking concerned.

In the recovery room, David takes his hand away from Jessica's, saying he's no hero, just a donor, who made sure the danger to himself was low-risk. Jessica says he can down-play it, but he saved her life. David says everything has its price. David turns his head away, as Nash sneaks in to see Jess, who's thrilled to see him.

Scene 4
Sarah, who gave Rex the slip at Capricorn, arrives at the hospital to check on Jessica. The nurse tells her that Jess is out of surgery and being moved to her own room soon. Sarah asks if that means she's doing well, but when the nurse asks if she's family, Sarah runs away when she sees Clint come out of a nearby room. Clint checks his phone, walks past the nurse, but doesn't notice that Sarah was even there.

Nash tells Jess that the doctors say she's doing great and then tells David they owe him. David insists he's being re-paid 10 million times over. Jessica keeps gushing about how incredible David is, so generous. David again states she doesn't know him very well. The nurse comes in to move Jess to her own room, so Nash helps, and they wheel her bed out. Leaving David alone in the recovery room, he closes his eyes, only to open them to find Clint standing next to his bed. David cracks that he hears Clint got him his own room. Clint responded, "You're lucky your ass isn't out in the parking lot."

Scene 5
David tries to distract Clint by commenting on how Jessica looks better, even so soon after the surgery. Clint doesn't think David gives a damn about Jessica, that greed is his only motivator. David starts to ramble about not liking pain, but Clint is losing patience. David admits that the money was a great incentive, so what? He saved Jessica's life, why can't he feel good about that? Clint says he can't have it both ways - he can't take the money and still play the hero. David says he told Jess he was no hero, but Clint doesn't buy David's new self-awareness. David admits that money is the only thing he lives for, since it can't hurt or betray you. Clint got what he wanted (Jessica well again) and David got what he wanted, so they both win, so why can't Clint just view the $10 million as a token of his appreciation?

Scene 6
David says Clint can hate him all he wants, but Jessica was saved and Asa isn't going to jail for conspiracy to commit murder, so David considers Clint got a bargain. Clint calls David despicable, but now he's also rich, as he drops a check on David's chest. Clint hopes the money keeps David warm at night, because nothing else will. As Clint walks out, David asks if he's going to tell Viki. Clint will let David have that honor.

Clint walks back out to the hallway, where Dorian is waiting for him. Sarah is sneaking around in the background, but ducks out of sight when she sees her grandfather. Dorian asks Clint what's wrong, and he said he just came from speaking with David. Understanding, Dorian stops him from having to say anything more. Dorian sends him to see Jessica, to make him feel better.

Clint steps into Jessica's room and walks over to her bed. Having prayed a long time for this, Clint is grateful to see his little girl doing better.

Scene 7
Dorian asks how Jessica's doing, when Clint re-joins her in the hallway. Clint reports that the doctors say Jess is doing very well. Dorian asks how Clint is doing, and he's disappointed in himself. He allowed his anger at David to taint what should be a wonderful, glorious day for him and his family. Jessica is getting a second chance at life and Clint feels resentful towards the man who helped her get that. Clint vows to be and do better, because he wants his little girl to be proud of him. Dorian insists she's proud of him already, and she's very grateful to have him in her life. Clint: "Dorian, whatever it took for us to get to this point, I thank God for it." Dorian is touched by his sentiment.

Still in the recovery room, David is trying to figure out how to spend his new-found wealth, complaining that more money takes more math. John comes to check on David and to remind him that they still have a murderer to find.

sunset.jpg c3.gif Today was a great Clint day for me as a fan. I could relate to his anger, fear and relief. He has always had a temper and did not appreciate being blackmailed though it was obvious that he would pay $10 million and more to save the daughter that he loves dearly. But, no one appreciates being strong armed into a decision that is a matter of life and death for a loved one. Dorian and Clint are obviously falling in love with each other. kiss5.jpg I made a clip of today's episode based on your recap Emily without seeing the show until I made the clip. Thanks for typing it up. The video clip is available on page 7 of verDorn's Venue. I will have it there temporarily and then change it with another episode. I just wanted it available for this week or so in case anyone wanted to watch it again.

Hey Emily, Thanks so much for the re-cap. Tomorrow I should, should, be able to do a re-cap of the whole show like Cheryl was for the last few C/D related episodes. I confess, I can't exactly remember how long she did them for, but I'm grateful none the less.

Clint has every right to be furious that he was blackmailed for his daughter's life. He wasn't given the chance to repay David in a decent way. Yes, Clint would probably be willing to pay more $10 million for Jessica's life if he had to, but this was about David taking advantage of Clint.

David thinks Asa owes him money - Asa doesn't because David didn't complete the job Asa hired him to do. And, Asa is not guilty of conspiracy to commit murder by himself - David agreed to the deal and was apparently going to go through with it, so he can drop his innocence act. I'm sure Clint would have been willing to negotiate with David an acceptable payment for both of them, but David pushed the $10 million sore spot. So it's okay to take that much money just because Clint's rich? Theft isn't so bad if the victim is worth more than $1 million?

I liked that, while Clint didn't absolve David of taking advantage of him, he admitted that he was wrong to let his temper get away from him on what should be a happy day for his family.

I also liked how Dorian supported him, no matter what he was feeling and understanding why he was feeling that way. She just wanted him to be at peace, not insist her pov was better than his. She was there to watch over him. He's still surprised sometimes at how she helps him. I loved their last scene - the more time they spend together, the closer they get and the more they appreciate each other.

The last scene was wonderful. Clint has said several times how happy he is to have Dorian in his life, but I don't remember Dorian saying it to him before yesterday. (If any of you have a better recollection, please correct me.) She seems to be getter closer to saying ILY.

I read the live thread on Soap Central yesterday. Several posters were claiming that Clint was "mean" to attack David while he was still in recovery. Boo hoo.
