The last couple of shows have saved my interest in OLTL. I said all along that it just takes one good story to draw me in. That is all that I was really wanting of Carlivati initially. Dorian and Clint are the romance that I want to see, but they are not enough to keep me watching the show if they are shown sporadically with no storyline. I need to watch something that will involve several characters and have an impact--preferably where there are gray areas of truth.
Weeks ago, this stuff with Tommy with Adriana/Rex whispering and Todd getting drugged up in search of his son, frankly put me to sleep. But somehow, Michael and of all people John McBain, are managing to get me involved in this story. I think the scenes between Nathaniel Marston and Michael Easton have been really good. And I usually don't watch either actor very much.
I don't agree with some of the things Michael says but I understand his desperation and love for his child. I also understand John wanting to return Tommy to his father because he was stolen.
When one looks at the individuals involved from Adriana to Rex to Marcie to Lindsay and on and on, it will be easy to see how this story will involve much of the town.
I hate the storyline because early on Rex and Adriana decided that Todd wasn't "good enough" to raise his son. That's crap. They looked at Starr and Jack and decided that they were too screwed up and didn't want that to happen to Tommy too. That's also crap. I haven't seen today's show, and didn't plan to watch, but now I will to see if I can somehow get interested in the storyline.
Michael said the same thing about Starr and Jack when he was pleading with John on yesterday's show to let him keep Tommy. You gotta know that I don't like this storyline because I agree with it. But I'm intrigued with the ramifications of these actions and how people will be affected by it. In fact, I take issue with many of the angles and the judgements made by the characters. But I see this as a human drama and I can relate to the emotions that are displayed between the two brothers. Furthermore, I can't stand Todd. Todd tried to kill Tommy a couple of times. Yet, he is still his biological father. Even though I don't like the character that doesn't give anyone the right to steal his kid.

That's where I'm coming from too. I'm especially annoyed with Adriana because she is keeping a secret that is affecting the lives of several people - based on what she thinks is the best choice for Tommy. It's not her choice to make.
