I loved watching them together. It's so unusual for someone to ask Dorian if she is "OK" and Starr went out of her way to get Dorian to talk about her relationship with Clint. Interesting that Dorian admitted there had been a problem, but that they could work it out.
Nora is such an idiot. Cell phones do not have to be answered. She knew that Dorian was calling Clint. If she was so concerned that the call be answered, she could have waited the five minutes it would take Clint to start the coffee and tell him that his phone had been vibrating.
True, Nora didn't need to answer his cell phone - she should have let the caller leave a message and then told Clint that his phone rang with Dorian's caller ID.
However, I was disappointed that Dorian told Starr that basically Clint was pouting because he didn't have Dorian's full attention. That's not true at all or even an issue for Clint. Clint understands that she has family issues that she needs to take care of, just like he has his own family responsibilities. Clint understood that Dorian couldn't come because she was looking after the children while Todd & Blair were out of town. He wants to share his life with Dorian, but he's fine waiting until she's available to visit the ranch with him.
Looks like Dorian is still trying to deny that she and Clint are in a relationship and he has told her that he loves her. And that's not fair to Clint, especially after pursuing him for so long and hard and giving him the impression that this is what she really wants too.
I'm watching the show now on SoapNet but I did see part of it on my tape a few minutes ago before stopping to watch the SoapNet broadcast. Considering that I am viewing it that Dorian is operating off of fear of admitting her feelings for Clint, I'd say her comments to Starr were a furtherance of that denial. Dorian's thought, "It's not a problem and it's not a problem because I don't love him." But note her actions and not what she says to Starr. That is when you find out the true essence of what is going on with Dorian in these scenes. She is full of bravada and even more so when she is in strong denial. She called Clint I assume (haven't gotten to viewing that part yet) and that was because of Starr's words regarding Cole and about letting someone know how much you care about them or else how are they to know. Dorian misses Clint. What you heard with Dorian and Starr is Dorian's insecurity that Nora is there for Clint in a way that she feels she can't be for the moment. That is my view of the character. She needs reassurance. I don't think what Dorian told Starr in explanation of what was going on with her and Clint is what happened at all. We saw the scene. I think identifying the incongruence is the point. This is Dorian's take because it's how she is viewing it as someone with low self-esteem and feelings of not being able to measure up to what he needs. When you've been abandoned or rejected so often this is the frame of reference. "I am not good enough or he/she would stick around." Do the writers delve this far into the character? Hmm, not usually. Robin does. She has identified Dorian's insecurities and putting up walls as her issues.
Clint is not going to know any of this unless she is forthcoming. Clint would be understanding toward her if he knew what was happening. But then, she would have to be self-aware. That is not going to happen it would seem. The phone call was a first step to her communicating but it would seem that was not very successful. The situation is likely to be compounded with the visit to Texas. Dorian is going to feel that she is being replaced. She is likely to question if Clint really meant his "I love you." Clint can't read Dorian's mind. Her actions (or defensive reactions) may tell him that she doesn't care like he does. I am kind of getting where they both are right now. I don't necessarily like it but I understand it in my own way. It's really too bad that Clint and Blair have never had a conversation about Dorian. Blair understands her.
Ginny I so agree that it was nice to hear someone notice that Dorian was feeling bad. That never happens and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty big deal for Dorian to even talk to her about it at all.
On a side note: I am glad that Clint got to mention his missing Asa. He hasn't really spoken much about it, though JvD has been playing the loss in little moments. I am hoping this trip will mean more of his dealing with his grief. If it happens, it won't likely be with Dorian.
