Robin Strasser Tribute V by Jonathan RichardsUpbeat tribute to the incomparable Robin Strasser, misc scenes from One Life to Live.
This set to Meredith Brooks, "Bitch" tune.
Being a BitchFans have speculated on several message boards that Dorian is the puppet master scheming on many fronts to bring down Buchanan Enterprises; also, she is said to be responsible for a host of other ills taking place in Llanview. Dorian has been in revenge mode, taking delight in evil and laughing at her less cunning adversaries. BUT, is she the villainness who ate Llanview? Nah. C'mon, what is her motive? I question it, but really it all depends on the writer, doesn't it? If it is to be written as such, let the motive be clear, strong and let the character have heart.
Let me speculate what I see as of now. Dorian has been hurt by the manner in which Clint dumped her and unhappy with Viki for any number of things. She made those points clear earlier in the week when she had lunch at the Palace (or was it the Country Club?) with Charlie, and later Jared. Aside from covering Jared and Charlie’s lie and allowing them to shoot themselves in the foot, I am not getting that Dorian is involved in masterminding anything else on a larger scale as seems to be in affect with Antonio’s assets being frozen; Ramsey replacing Bo as Police Commissioner and Nash partnering up with new investors in his winery. Dorian may later be involved in some huge scheme but frankly, I don’t see it right now.
Dorian isn't pure evil. She has a heart. Love is more powerful to Dorian than hate. Dorian’s vengeance is typically
personal. She will go after those whom she feels have wronged her or her family. Therefore Viki, Nora and now Charlie and Jared, easily make her payback list. Clint is on the list, too. However, I am not sure where she wants things to go with him because I think that while she wants to hurt him she still loves him and consequently will not want to cause irreparable damage unless it is in his relationship with Nora. In other words, as of now I can’t see her destroying Buchanan Enterprises; instead I envision her allowing Clint to make a fool of himself by believing Jared and possibly put the company on shaky ground as a result when the truth comes out. If Buchanan Enterprises erodes, it will be due to Bo's, Clint’s and even Nora’s arrogance, weakness and impropriety. I vacillate on this point because frankly the extent of Dorian's involvement depends on the writer and how far the writer is willing to go with Dorian as a villainness. I will note that there are many Dorian fans who want her to be behind it all to reestablish herself as the Queen Bitch of Llanview and frankly, Clint is not seen in good favor these days, specifically for cheating on Dorian with Nora. Dorian is
capable of going after Clint and Buchanan Enterprises; it is just not the way she has been written in recent years. Consequently, I am not sure if reminding viewers that Dorian is in love with Clint was to show that she wouldn't go all the way with trying to destroy his company or if it was to give motive to try and slay him and his company out of hurt, anger and humiliation.
Since Dorian believes she was blind-sided by Clint and Nora in particular, she would give pause to lift a finger to help them were she in the position of doing so. The only exception I could see to that scenario is if she was made to be the heroine of the day to show herself as the better woman. You see Dorian is about power, position and respect, though revenge and blackmail are often her mode of operandi. She is humiliated by what happened in Texas. She is hurt and she is angry. For her, being in position and connected enough to help would be of greater import than setting the action into place that would cause the most damage to destroy the company -- a company by the way, that someday might fall in to the hands of Dorian's niece and Kelly's daughter, Zane. Currently, Dorian is insecure after her most recent humiliation and reestablishing her power base by hobnobbing with the influential people in town to restore her bruised ego. Along the way, she'll drop hints to the mayor or police commissioner about Nora's ineffectiveness as DA. She has more vitriol toward Nora than Clint.
Speaking of Nora, Dorian is more than likely to be set up as the fall guy for whatever scam is being run on a more global front because that is what happens in Llanview. She may look like the guilty party—and will likely be guilty for some of it (Being mindful of how extreme the writer wants to go with the character). Ultimately I can see her being accused but innocent. Hey, she already looks guilty to most and the story hasn’t even gotten off the ground yet. I am not ruling out her active participation as the story progresses, but there will have to be specific circumstances that back her into more direct involvement in such mass destruction.
I am with those who would point to someone else. By that someone else, I’d say it is Mitch Laurence (not dead); RJ Gannon (my choice), freed from prison Carlo Hesser or even Asa, who put the wheels into motion with active instigators in the event of his death. I could see Asa setting this up to pull his family together in crisis. Also, I am beginning to wonder if the BE events are even connected to the other stuff happening in Llanview. Right now, I am beginning to ponder if they are separate and not necessarily involving a singular villain.

Strife between brothers. It's coming and I am getting all giddy because I want Head Writer Ron Carlivati to explore the relationship between the two senior Bukes. Frankly, I don't want it to be about the women in their lives. I believe the strongest relationships on this show should be between Bo and Clint Buchanan and between Victoria Davidson and Dorian Cramer Lord. These characters are at the center of Llanview as far as I am concerned. Anyway, I would like focus on these men and their relationship to their father and how they see themselves in his absence. I expect egos to rise to the surface, anger to reach the brim and brotherly love to overshadow it all.
What did you say Jessica? dncla.jpg I had to rewind my tape when Jessica explained to Charlie how Dorian went after Viki's men and sought revenge on the man when she lost out. Um, I was totally confused. I can't think of a single man Dorian has tried to ruin because she lost him to Viki. I see Dorian most often going after Viki in such situation. But you know, if Dorian ever goes to trial for a crime, I see Jessica as a witness for DA Hanen. I gotta believe that was all said to make Dorian look suspect.

Rock on Strasser!I loved the recent scenes of Dorian and Charlie dining at I believe it was the Country Club. It was just so much fun to see Robin Strasser in her glory as Dorian made mincemeat out of an unsuspecting Charlie, who discovered the "real" Dorian has been lying to him all this time about her relationship with Viki. Here's a snippet of it from the OLTL transcripts at
tvmegasite.net:
Charlie: If you really want to hurt Viki so badly, why don't you just get it over with? Just tell her what Jared and I have done to her family.
Dorian: Because each day that Viki spends with you, she falls a little bit more in love. The longer I delay, the more wrenching the pain will be when I finally do tell her the news.
Charlie: Damn you.
Dorian: What? What? I am not the one who lied to the woman I supposedly love -- or lied to Rex, who thinks you're his father. By the way, as long as you are the father of my daughter's fiancé, if I want you to make sure that that wedding never happens, you will do it. You will help me.
Charlie: The hell I will!
Dorian: Oh, really? You and your ingrate son will do what I say, when I say it, and that's all there is to it. In the meantime, I suggest that you enjoy yourselves. Mm-hmm. This could go on for some time. No reason why you shouldn't make the most of it.
[Dorian chuckles]
Dorian: A bientot.
Dorian makes mincemeat of Charlie as she reveals her inner bitch.
